(Belated) Valentine's Day in Midgard
We've reached 50%, now we're waiting for our other half...
Hi everyone! We’ve reached 50% and 50 backers! Thanks for your support!
In this newsletter, you will find a text Hipólita made explaining tags (one of the mechanics present in our game) and shared a romantic encounter that could be included in your saga during your playthrough of From Midgard to Eternity. And also some recommendations for projects that still haven’t reached their goal during Zine Month!
Valentine's Day in Midgard
On Valentine's Day, we want to talk about romance options in From Midgard To Eternity a bit. In the game, you'll complete various events, which describe a bit of the world and prompt you to describe and journal what happens - all mediated through the Tags mechanic.
A Tag is simply a descriptor of an experience, an item, a belief or a part of your essence as a person - categorized by four types which correspond to the parts of the soul in Norse belief: Hamr, Hugr, Fylgja and Hamingja. You earn and lose Tags constantly while playing.
This is a sample of one such event, inspired by both the historical Þurið Þorkilsdóttir and the eponymous song about her by the band Týr. If you've played games like Sunless Sea or Disco Elysium you might be familiar with options being "locked" behind character traits.
It takes a pretty long time, through a long series of events and *many* in-game years to visit the powerful Þurið enough times to complete her "questline", but you are rewarded with many tags, including one extra powerful Tag of the fifth (and secret, for now) type at the end.
The actual romance aspect is opt-in, and entirely up to you as a player. We're not going to force anything on you, even though leading questions are a key part of the gameplay loop - what we're interested in is what you'll do with the opportunity. We want to read your journals!

Please spread the word about this project; we want to see it out in the world! We’re still looking for our other half!
Some cool projects that need your support as well
Outliers by Sam Leigh, published by Far Horizons Coop. Outliers is a single-player journaling game in which you play a research assistant trying to do their job in an absurd environment. You may be fresh out of college, but one look at your syrup-leaking laptop shows you that this is no ordinary lab, despite what the disembodied voice of the Principal Investigator (P.I.) tells you.
The Hauntings of Hyde Park: an unofficial zine for The Between by Nico MacDougall, it’s in its last hours and needs your support! An unofficial zine supplement for The Between by Jason Cordova, a game about monster hunters in Victorian London, focusing on the supernatural happenings in London's historic Hyde Park. For an early glimpse of the contents of this zine, here is a text-only early access version.
Solo Martial Blues by James Kerr is a hard-hitting martial arts tabletop RPG for one player. You're a violent loner, fighting against all odds, always just one fight from death. It's just you, your fists, and the mean streets.
Next time, we will have a brief interview with Anna Lee Franck about her process and how she put together this amazing cover art!
